First, please do your research before you bring a puppy home to your family. Your new puppy is going to be a member of your family for a long time… take the time now to do your research so you will know this is the pup you really want for you and your family.
A good Havanese or Havana Silk pup from a breeder that follows the health standards needed for these dogs will sell for anywhere from $1500 to $2500, depending on the quality, show potential, and lineage. Done properly, the breeding and raising of these pups takes an investment of time, money, and love of the breed.
You will see pups for less, so please do your research. Even if you decide to go with another breeder, get to know them now, to save yourself the heartache and frustration later in the pup’s life. Spend time talking with them on the phone, and visit with them to ask questions, get instruction, and to see your pup and how it interacts with others.
Ask your breeder if they give a lifetime guarantee, with a money back return policy. That should be standard. A one or two year “guarantee” isn’t long enough when health is an issue. Have they done all the required tests for the Havanese pup? Is the pup registered with AKC? If it is a Havana Silk pup, have they completed or started certification with the Havana Silk Dog of America Association? If your breeder does not answer all of these, with proof, you should consider looking further.
Reputable breeders are concerned about the health of their pups, and the homes they place them in. If the breeder doesn’t take the time to help you, and answer your questions, you now know why they sell their dogs so cheap.
Socialization is very important for any pup. We raise all of our pups in the home, and work with them actively to make sure they are well socialized for their new family. Even the neighborhood kids come over and ask to play with them and hold them (under our supervision at all times.) We can help you pick the right pup for your home, and we encourage you to ask about each pup and their personalities – and yes, every one of them is different!
All of our puppies are AKC registered, and are being certified for Havana Silk status with the Havana Silk Dog Association of America. The parents of our pups are nationally known champions, with AKC registration and Havana Silk Dog certification. We’ll be glad to tell you more when you call!
We complete all current vaccinations and BAER testing, with a full examination by a veterinarian who is nationally recognized as an expert on Havanese and Havana Silks. We prepare a full notebook on every pup, with their information on health certificate, our guarantee, their lineage (pedigree). Each of our pups have been micro-chipped, with documentation included in their records.
